Student union of Serbia is the largest independent student syndic organization in Serbia.

Independent, the course of its actions is directed solely by the consciousness of its members, and in their interest. It doesn't support either of the political parties or organizations. And, in return, they don't support us either :). It maintains very friendly relations (and cooperation) with NGOs, independent syndicates, and independent student and youth organizations on both sides of FRY's borders.

Student, because all its members are active students.

Syndic, beacause it deals with all those little (and big) things that would make studying better, easier, cheaper and simpler. From local problems, specific to each faculty (additional exam terms, lab damage costs, additional literature) to the problems all students share - like defending the autonomy of the University. Largest, because the largest number of students chose to join a Student union rather then any other student organization in Serbia.

It was born in 1992, when the Student union of the Faculty of law introduced this concept of student organizing. The rest is, as they say, history. At the moment, there are over 20 local Student unions in the membership of SUS, from 4 out of 5 University centers in Serbia.

What makes this concept so successful, is the orientation towards the local environments and their problems. It is the fact that the organization was built upwards, and that it respects democratic principles in all its activities, that made it stand out and provide more for its members. We promote tolerance, respect of human rights and equality. Members of Student unions respect these principles, and follow them in their relations with each other and with the entire world.

We have many activities, and we plan to grow and every day do more for you. And for us. For students.

We elect and we are elected. Every year. No one for more than two years. As the statute says, and you can verify it :) We are the third generation. We are the first to create such a great website =).
