Friday, May 21st, 1999 What when the war is over?Q: What do you honestly think is going to happen after the war is over? is the west going to help you to re-built serbia?? are they going to leave you alone? The worst is up to come, however. When the war is over, only the ruins and dead bodies stays. Together with that, some recently created catastrophes will gain their weight: * existential - after the latest NATO strikes at the power plants, whence t he installations are badly damaged, the pure existence of 10 000 000 inhabitants of Yugoslavia is imperilled; living without water and electricity for days, millions of people are brought to the mere edge of the humanitarian and human catastrophe. * economical - almost all the factories have been destroyed; several hundreds of thousands of workers are left with no job and no income * ecological - large quantities of oil were spilled into rivers after NATO missiles hit the oil constructions, moreover, huge amounts of toxic gases have evaporated afterwards; extremely radioactive DU (depleted uranium) has been used in the missiles... * political - the last seeds of democracy have been abolished from Serbia etc. Will that be possible to outdo - I'm not sure. Not in some near future at least. Especially until Serbia get rid of Milosevic and his regime, no credits could be expectable. Therefore the investments should be made from west into the Serbian opposition. For - the only way the world can stop the Balkan bloodshed is to co-operate with people from Balkan, not to kill them. Q: would you be able to live en peace with croatians Albanians bosnian etc... For sure, under a normal and democratically elected governments. Ana & William from mcmail.com |
