A dirty compromise of saving Milosevic and the face of NATO, but sacrificing the well-being of Kosovars, Serbs and Yugoslavians alike...

Q: It seems you may soon be spared, or at least, that these hideous bombardments may soon cease.
Let's cross our fingers. It seems the peace agreement Yugoslavia now seems to accept is nearly identical to what the Yugoslavian Parliament proposed - on March 23nd, the day before the bombings started.
So much for Clinton's talk about what "our military effort has achieved." I'm truly ashamed to come from a country (Denmark) which has been a part of this aggression.
I saw on the LA Times site the other day that even the former leader of the KLA criticizes NATO's clumsy and criminal handling of this war.
Well, now a dirty compromise may be approaching, which may be designed to save Milosevic, the face of NATO and probably sacrificing the well-being of Kosovars, Serbs and Yugoslavians alike. Your effort will definitely be needed in the peace that is to follow this dirty war.
Keep up the good work!

Nevertheless, the close combat is still to come.

As for the agreement finally accepted by our regime, it does not suit the Serbs at all. Among the other inconceivable spots of the agreement, one can find the complete withdrawal of all the Serbian official forces from Kosovo, which is still the territory of Serbia bearing all the licences for the official troops to control it. Moreover, the withdrawal of the Serbian before stationing NATO troops leaves the time vacuum for the terrorist KLA to install around Kosovo as well, which represents a permanent threat for all the civilians inhabited on Kosovo. Finally, there is no ground to believe NATO troops will unfit KLA for doing some further atrocities after they've openly supported and assisted KLA for the time being.

Who do we blame for? In the first place - "our" incapable and incompetent government (read it as Milosevic). Kosovo problem had to be solved years ago, or at least a seek for solution had to be started years ago. "Our" government should never put itself in position to choose between bombardment and this agreement. Biggest opportunities it had in early 90s, it had an opportunity in the autumn of '96, too. Even it had an opportunity in October '98, but missed'em all (intentionally or accidently - what is the difference, it doesn't change a thing).

Yet, if only this agreement will stop the bloodshed, no choice is left. Though that is called an ultimatum.

Again, the Serbian regime has shown it's insanity after accepting the very same ultimatum as the one before the bombardment. Due to that mixed with the NATO insanity, hundreds of innocent civilians were killed, many towns devastated, many families left homeless, without some dearest to them. For what reason? If there could be a reason at all for committing such the crimes!

The worst part of the agreement, however, is the one that exists, almost officially, even - the compromise. The only thing Milosevic did gain with this agreement is - a guarantee for his own safety inside Serbia from the world jurisprudence - the International Criminal Tribunal, in spite of his indictment and official warrant. That much about the international justice and law system.

Thereby, the war will probably be stopped. Some of the consequences might even be precluded, though most of them will never be - the bereft human lives.

Nevertheless - the main cause of all remains. Until some other tragedy is on a horizon...

Last but not least - don't be ashamed to come from the country of yours, Denmark, because it's been a part of this aggression. Feel ashamed for what the government of yours has done, if you feel indispensable to. The same way I'm not ashamed nor I'll ever be for being a Serb, but only for the regime of mine and all the atrocities it has ever done.
