Friday, May 21st, 1999 What about massacres in Kosovo?Q: You are very clear about most issues (Milosevic, NATO bombs, etc) but you do not talk about the massacres in Kosovo. Already thousands of Albanian men (and some woman and children) have been summarily executed by Serb forces after having been separated from their families, just like in 1944. After the war, when we find out what really happened inside Kosovo, worse may come to light. You know that very well, because you are well informed, and because it also happened in Bosnia (Srebrenica, Tuzla, you remember?) We guess these are some kind of rhetorical questions. Our position doesn't differ from any other normal person in the world. If those executions really happened, if it found out to be true, we simply cannot approve that just because it done by "our" side. The problem is that nobody knows what is really going on in Kosovo. There is no reliable source that can provide both information and proves. We read a lot of speculations, we see a lot of propaganda on our state television as well on CNN and other major TV stations. Thousends of men killed is real tragic and we hope that those people who ordered it will be trialed (we repeat, if it is true). Q: What is your position? Is it OK for the police and the Yugoslav army to execute unarmed Yugoslav men to avoid the risk of having them join the KLA? No. Q: Is it OK for the police and the Yugoslav army to deport the Albanian population out of Kosovo in trains or buses to empty Kosovo and to avoid the population to support the KLA? No. Q: Is it OK for the police and the Yugoslav army to burn Albanian farms and houses to avoid giving shelter to the KLA? Huh, a war is dirty business and there is war in Kosovo - a lot of things are different in war than in the peacetime. We have a lot of examples from history when one army burned towns to cut enemy's supply sources. If your question is why they burn only Albanian farms and houses we have no excuses, but we don't believe that there is a sign noting if house belongs to Albanian or Serb. Q: Is it OK for the police and the Yugoslav army to strip people of their IDs, even women and children? No. Q: Is it OK for the police and the Yugoslav army to steal money from refugees? No. Q: To summarize: can you commit a genocide when a non Serb population wants to secede from Serbia on a land historically Serbian? What trade off are you ready to accept? This is the real question to Serbs today as their country is destroyed day after day. None can commit genocide because of anything. If one nation want to secede from some country then they can do it in diplomatic way. You know, elections, negotiations... not with arms in hands. Let's presume for a brief moment that KLA are terrorist organization and not a human rights fighters. How does any country treat terrorists? We repeat, it's is a legitimate will that Albanians from Kosovo want to secede from Serbia. But then, if international community let Albanians from Kosovo (Kosovars) have their own country, why Serbs in Bosnia don't have the same right? Or in Croatia? Why Albanians in Macedonia don't have the same right? Why not Corsicans have the same right? Why people in Serbia who oppose Milosevic don't have that right? If we are not Serbs, but for instance Eskimos (no hard feelings Eskimos), can we secede then? Can one secede his/her room from his parent's flat? If you give one nation right to secede, you must give it to all nations. And it will not bring peace and normal life, just more and more small or big wars. Q: Would you say that you cannot make an omelet without braking eggs and that you support genocide if it serves the purpose of a Serb populated Kosovo? I hope not because this is not a European notion, I am sorry but if you believe that you have no right to belong to our Europe. You have on the other hand some good friends in Rwanda. We don't believe that you can find support of genocide on this web presentation. Leroy from hmr.co.jp |
