All things considered, everything is all right

You must have heard that last night had been interesting here and that we had a chance to see in action both of the sides. Both these ones from up there, our "friends" from democratic country improving our humanitarian situation on dayly basis, and, of course, ours from down here helping them to get back home as quickly as they can. There were fireworks.

Novi Sad lives its life as every ordinary city does in these conditions forced upon its citizens. But, there are things I can not understand. For instance, the people all over the town were making telephone calls to get information on what is going on, bunch of people were on their windows and terraces, many were outside their buildings, some on the fields (to have a better view), some were climbing on the rooftops, some on the trees (yes, trees indeed). I can't comprehend what makes us do something so irational (not to say idiotic) in a such a "killer situation". Wouldn't it be logical for everyone to hide in mouseholes (or shelters if you like) and be quiet? People are cheering in the streets "There it is!"; "Hit it"; "Little on the left, chief"; "Bravo, there goes one". Well, see for your self. Swedes or Danish would have probably already been a whole month in the shelters, listening in peace and quiet instructions about behaving inside, and suffer. And, they would end up better then we are now. And, us. Lunatics. I said it before, you carry a part of that insanity inside, no matter how far you are (no hard feelings). It became important in which part of town you are living in, not only because of security, but also for night observation. I guess people will be like that untill a piece of metal doesn't fall down from the sky on someone's head or bedroom.

Oh, yeah. Talking abuot bedroom. What are they thinking? In nine months they will be able to close the maternity ward in the local hospital. Everyone is nervous from listening or watching to the sky. And night time is, normally, also predicted for different kind of activities. "Their" President let the whole world know about his sexual problems with both wife and mistress. He is the one with that kind of problems and the whole world is trembling. And here, ten million people have that kind of problem because of President's planes disturbing our peace and nobody cares. They will pay the war reparations. We will build new bridges, too, but who will bring back our sleepless nights. It would have been better if we have "slept" and then slept. It would have been better for them, too, if they would leave us alone, and for the pilots, bacause they would have "slept" and then slept.

By the way, another working week is over. The weather is cloudy, nothing special happens, for what is more special than this. We walk together, we started to take visits from friends coming with kids. For kids, to play, for us, elders, to encourage eachother to hold on. I may be wrong, but it is easier for us who stayed in this town (and didn't leave in a hurry for Szegedin, Budapest, Vienna or New York). The other ones are worried, because they don't know how it is in the city they left. It is easier for us because, even in these circumstances, we are home, in our beds and pujamas, together. This might be more important in these times, than protecting yourself from Tomahawks.

I have to admitt that I have a feeling that you are fed up with "letters" and me. I have a feeling that you are bored. I can't help you. You have to hang on. Don't give up. Situation is hard, but be tough. It will be better for everyone, even for you. You can always hit that delete button when you see e-mail with subject "Pisma...".

I admitt, I write these letters beacause of me, too. It makes it easier.

As always, be good, 'till the next Letter....

    Love
